Tomas and Ebba set out for the French Alps with their children to spend the winter holidays skiing. The weather is good and the snow-covered slopes look impressive. One day, when the family is having lunch on the restaurant's terrace, a great avalanche comes down the mountainside and transforms the idyllic holidays into a real challenge. Tomas and Ebba want to save the bonds that connect them, but first they need to reflect on what the roles of husband, wife, and parent mean. This trial sets off a series of tragic-comedic events and the situation becomes increasingly complicated when closely held secrets are revealed. “Force Majeure” is a thorough analysis of social roles pinned to modern women and men. The film is based on a story taken from the director's biography.
