DESCRIPTION

WOJTEK MAZOLEWSKI is a representative of Polish jazz at its best. On one hand harking back to a classical sound and recording methods, being a musical heir to the classics of Polish jazz, and on the other hand creating music that is fresh, understandable for young audiences who listen to new trends and know jazz rather through the prism of artists like Koop, Brad Mehldau, or Robert Glasper Experiment. There are few artists in Poland who are invited to perform abroad as often as him, there are few music genres whose representatives break boundaries with such ease, and whose creative work is understood in almost every part of the world.

Music on “Polka,” the newest album by Wojtek Mazolewski's quintet, is a wanderer's diary, thus the track titles: “Paris,” “Berlin,” “Bangkok.” The album combines tradition and modernity – both in its music (e.g. covers of Major Lazer, Rage Against The Machine, and Nirvana) and in its idea – the album has special artwork – on the cover one can see a photo of Małgorzata Braunek made by master of photography Tadeusz Rolke. “Polka” is a display of skill for Mozolweski's collaborators: Joanna Duda, Oskar Török, Marek Pospieszalski, Qba Janicki. The first single (“Get Free”) promoting the album hit Polish Radio's charts (Lista Przebojów Programu Trzeciego). The international tour has shown that the music of Wojtek Mazolewski's quintet once again won the hearts of people not only in Poland, but also abroad (Germany, Czech Republic, Hungary).
