„The Artist Is Present” is the title of the performance taking place in the museum of Modern Art from 14th March to 31st May 2010. Every day, the artist would sit on a chair without moving in one of the numerous gallery rooms of the museum for several hours. The visitors who sat next to the morionless Abramović described this event as cleansing and moving.
The influence of Marina Abramović, icon of body art and performance, seems impossible to overrate. Her works, exploring the boundaries of experimenting on the human body, have entered the canon of modern art for good. The film „Marina Abramović: The Artist is Present” is not, however, a static summary of her over forty-year artistic career, but shows the artist at work: still searching, full of energy, and in a revolutionary mood.
