DESCRIPTION
“The Actress” is a feature length biopic documentary about Elżbieta Czyżewska, one of the greatest Polish actresses of the 1960s, sometimes called “Polish Marylin Monroe”, who died in 2010. More than on her amazing career in Poland, the film concentrates on her efforts to work as an actress in America, where she suddenly emigrated with her husband, American journalist David Halberstam. Friends and people who knew her speak openly about her fatal marriage, her successful struggle with alcohol and attempts to come back to Poland. This is an archetypical story of an actress at different stages of her career, at top, at bottom and in between.

Kinga Dębska – Director and screenwriter. Graduated from directing at the FAMU in Prague as well as Japanese studies at the University of Warsaw. Her script for “The Rebound” was awarded at the Koszalin Debut Film Festival “The Young and Cinema” in 2009.Maria Konwicka (1952) Visual artist, writer for animated films produced by Universal and the Walt Disney production company. She played Haneczka in Andrzej Wajda's adaptation of “The Wedding.” Daughter of Tadeusz Konwicki – writer, director, and screenwriter.
