DESCRIPTION

What is it like to survive the genocide performed by death-squads in Indonesia in the 1960s? What is it like to live among the unpunished murderers of your own brother? Adi Rukun, a middle-aged optician, knows the answers to those questions. Finally, he decides to confront the killers' macabre acts. During an eyesight examination, he proposes they look at the past from a different perspective.

Director Joshua Oppenheimer calls for the breaking of silence born of terror. His film depicts the associated consequences. It's also a story about not being able to change anything in life until you fully deal with the past, even if every single day is built on terror and lies.
