DESCRIPTION

Róża is the daughter of a Pole who works in Russia. With her family, she lives in Taganrog, a port city on the coast of the Sea of Azov. There she experiences her first music concert; enchanted by the Italian artist's performance, she decides to become a violinist. Thanks to her father's support she leaves for Warsaw, where she is to receive education at a music conservatory. There she meets Michał, whom she falls deeply in love with. The boy, however, despite his earlier assurances of reciprocated love, later abandons Róża. This event is going to result in very bitter consequences for the protagonist and the people she will associate with.

“The Stranger” is an adaptation of Maria Kuncewiczowa's novel, published for the first time in 1936. Fifty years later, the author returned to her work, and wrote the script to Ryszard Ber's film.
