Kacper, a history teacher adored by his pupils, begins to gradually lose his eyesight. The medical diagnosis leaves no hope. Due to a genetic flaw, the man faces permanent blindness. Heartbroken at first, Kacper eventually decides to conceal his health concerns from his supervisors in order to keep his job and prepare his students for the high-school finals. Only Wiktor, the teacher's best friend, knows his secret. Struggling with the new circumstances and growing challenges, Kacper gets close with his colleague Ewa. He also tries to help a rebellious female pupil who hides a painful secret.
“Carte Blanche” is inspired by a true story. Maciej Białek, whom the role of Kacper is based on, still teaches at the Lublin high school, enjoying great popularity and respect among the students.
