Michał (Wojciech Zieliński) escaped the provincial town of Tarnów and moved to the big city of Warsaw. In the city, with his beautiful wife Magda (Natalia Rybicka) and new-born son, he leads a seemingly ideal life. Michał has everything one could dream of: a family, his own business, and a luxurious flat on the top floor of an apartment building. However, the protagonist is haunted by his criminal past, which never seems to let go. The idyll is disturbed by the appearance of Janek (Tomasz Schuchardt) – an old friend who is to become godfather to their child. “The Christening” is powerful, sometimes brutal cinema, full of twists and, as the title would suggest, biblical symbolism. Adam Woronowicz plays the role of “Gruby,” a fiendish gangster.
2010 Polish Film Festival in Gdynia – Silver Lions, Don Quixote (the award of the Polish Federation of Film Societies), Award for Best Editing (Piotr Kmiecik), Award for Best Actor (Wojciech Zieliński and Tomasz Schuchardt), Golden Lions nomination
