DESCRIPTION

“The Lost Honour of Katharina Blum” is an adaptation of prose by Heinrich Böll, laureate of the Nobel Prize in literature. The film’s protagonist is a 27-year-old divorcee. One day, she meets a man whom she falls in love with at first sight. It soon becomes apparent that her lover is wanted by the police on charges of terrorist activity. Katharina Blum faces an exhausting clash not only with the authorities, but most of all – with the tabloids, ever hungry for a story. The budget of the film, which Margharete von Trotta co-directed with Volker Schlöndorff, was one of the most impressive in the history of cinema of the Federal Republic of Germany.
