DESCRIPTION
A distressing story about a serial killer on the loose in the 1960s. The script for “The Red Spider” is based on an original script by Marta Szreder, which was awarded with the Małopolska Film Prize in the Three Crowns competition and based on Cracow's urban legends. One such legend tells the completely fictional story of the demonic Lucjan Staniak, called “the Red Spider,” while another is based on the authentic biography of the only teenage serial killer known to criminology: Karol Kot. Koszałka's film stars Adam Woronowicz, one of this year's Two Riversides guests and the subject of the “And God Created Actor” retrospective.

Marcin Koszałka (1970) Director and screenwriter of documentary films. A valued cinematographer, laureate of numerous awards, including for cinematography in Lankosz's “The Reverse” and Piekorz's “The Welts.” Graduated from cinematography at the Krzysztof Kieślowski Faculty of Radio and Television at the University of Silesia.
